Frogster’s ‘Runes of Magic’ wins the prestigious BÄM! award at the GamesCom
Berlin, 25.08.2010:
Frogster Interactive Pictures AG, international publisher of massively multiplayer online games with headquarters in Berlin and subsidiaries in Berlin, San Francisco and Seoul received the prestigious “BÄM!” Award in the category of the best online role-play game at the GamesCom for their MMO Game hit ‘Runes of Magic’. With this award, the publisher Computec which is opinion leading in the computer games realm, awards prizes to the best games in different categories each year. Both MMO Games ‘Mythos’ and ‘Tera’ which were announced by Frogster for 2011, were nominated for the award as best free-to-play game and best role-play game by the publisher IDG’s flagship, the magazine GameStar. The press response from over 150 press appointments with print-, online- and TV magazines is expected within the next days and weeks.
Update on current revenues
As already announced, Frogster expects a decrease in revenue for August. After yesterday’s analysis, besides seasonal effects, this may be due to the testing of new anti-fraud measures which unfortunately always also inevitably prevent “good” revenue and consequently have to be fine tuned and partly completely revised. This is the task which the team has taken on for the ongoing week after their return from the GamesCom. For the same reasons, Frogster anticipates noticeably rising monthly revenues for September again. The number of new registrations for ‘Runes of Magic’ is continually rising by a few thousand per day and the average number of concurrent ‘Runes of Magic’ users has dropped only by around 5% even during midsummer season compared to the record month of June.
Outlook 2011
With the announced products Frogster expects further acceleration of its persistent, strong and profitable expansion for 2011. The analysts’ consensus currently amounts to 43m Euro revenue forecast 2011 and 3.35 Euro net profit forecast per share. Assuming a similar development as both of Frogster’s well-known online games competitors have taken during the last two years coming from a similar revenue size as Frogster’s current one, the growth ought to take an even faster course. In the management’s view Frogster’s product pipeline supports this assumption. Provided that the cooperation between Gameforge and Frogster intended by both companies runs constructively, it should also contribute significantly to the results and values of both companies latest from 2011 on.

Christoph Gerlinger
CEO | Frogster Interactive Pictures AG
Despite having left the games industry more than two years ago Christoph received a call from his former colleague and friend Dirk Weyel at the end of 2004, that a small computer games publisher with 11 staff was for sale. From 1996 to 1999 Christoph had co-built the German computer games business of Psygnosis, a Sony group company. 1999 he had co-founded CDV Software Entertainment AG took it public as MD in the CFO role in 2000 and co-managed it until end of 2001. Psygnosis and CDV were a big success during his time. So why not buy a small company and switch to the driver seat completely? Opportunities in the games hit business are large but so are the risks. Even more if you are a small challenger required to move ahead into innovative niches. Christoph bought the company beginning of 2005 together with Dirk, friends and family. Under the new name Frogster Interactive Pictures they have since focussed the company as one of the first in Europe on the growth market of virtual worlds, so called massively multiplayer online games. For the purists - Christoph was born 1967, has started his career with a "Banklehre" and holds a master degree in business admin from JW Goethe University in Frankfurt.
